Different perspective

While reading P vs NP from the Introduction to Theory of Computation textbook by "Michael Sipser" I came across this quote:

"Ignoring the trees to see the forest doesn't mean that one is more important that the other; it just gives a different perspective"

Eat That Frog!

While reading this book I am coming across lot many quotes that I like. Hence, I decided to combine them in this post. I will leave the previous ones as it is.

What is planning?
"Planning is brining the future to the present so you can do something about it now" -- Alan Lakein

Six P Formula:
Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance

Quality to win!

Napoleon Hill - "There is one quality that one must possess to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants and a burning desire to achieve it"

Cathcart - Self-Image

I read this quote while reading "Eat that frog". The author basically says that your mental picture of yourself has a very powerful effect on your behavior. Visualize yourself as the person you intend to be in the future. Your self-image the way you see yourself on the inside largely determines your performance on the outside.

Jim Cathcart once said - "The person you see is the person you will be"

Galileo - What can be taught?

While reading the book "Eat that Frog" I came across the following quote:

Galileo - "You cannot teach a person something he does not already know; you can only bring what he does know to his awareness"

Even though its a bit difficult to digest  I felt this way many a times in classes. Most of learning(awareness in this case) can be broken down into small realizations. You do not realize this when you are young but after a certain age and experience this is clear. Either way I am mostly a self-learner so this quote is more dear to me than it might be for others :-)

Intro

This blog will contain only quotes I come across in my day to day life that are catchy! But, I will try to also post the context in which they occurred so that I can look back and relate it to the respective incidents! I hope it will mould into a good collection of adages!

DISCLAIMER: Even though the blogs url says "famousadages" I am going to go with my vote as to what I think should be posted. I give a damn if some quote is popular or on the contrary unfamiliar. All I care is a good context in which it was used and its real value to ME :-) ( I can use it in my talks or presentations or in my daily conversations! while making sense :)
